Senior Portraits at Huntington Beach State Park

If you’ve ever wondered where the best place for senior portraits is in the Myrtle Beach area, I’ll let you in on my not-so-secret answer: Huntington Beach State Park. I photograph all over the Grand Strand, but Huntington is the one location that truly has it all. History, texture, nature, and one of the prettiest stretches of coastline we have.

For Paisley’s senior session, we started with just a few quick portraits in Litchfield to capture that soft oak-lined Lowcountry feel, but the heart of her session and where the magic really happened was Huntington.

Huntington Beach State Park: Three Looks in One Place

What makes Huntington so perfect for seniors is the variety. Without driving all over town, we can create a gallery that looks like it came from multiple locations.

Atalaya Castle
The castle grounds give seniors a more editorial, timeless vibe. The arches, textured walls, and shaded corridors add depth without stealing the spotlight. Paisley’s confidence really shined here. These portraits feel sophisticated, a little artistic, and completely unique to this area. The courtyard and interior spaces at Atalaya are beautiful as well, but they do require an earlier session time before the castle closes for the evening, something we always plan around when building your timeline.

The different paths
Just a short walk away, the scenery completely changes. Tall grasses, wood and sandy paths, and open sky create that true coastal Carolina look. This part of the park is perfect for natural, relaxed images, the kind where seniors can breathe, move, and just be themselves instead of worrying about posing “right.”

The Beach at Golden Hour
And then there’s the shoreline, my favorite way to end every Huntington session. The light gets softer, the wind picks up just enough, and everything feels effortless. Bare feet in the sand, waves in the background, real smiles instead of forced ones. Paisley absolutely glowed out there.

Senior Photos That Feel Real

What I loved most about Paisley’s session wasn’t just the beautiful backdrops, it was how herself she was in every spot. Huntington makes that easy. There’s space to laugh, walk, twirl, and let personality come through instead of feeling like you’re on a stiff photo set.

That’s always my goal with seniors: photos that look like you on your very best day, not a version of you trying to fit a trend.

If you’re dreaming of senior portraits in Myrtle Beach and want a location that offers variety, beauty, and that classic coastal feel, Huntington Beach State Park is hard to beat. It’s the place I come back to again and again, and sessions like Paisley’s show exactly why.

Paisley, thank you for trusting me with such an important season of your life. You made my job easy.
